Frequently Asked Questions

What is Wacom Yuify?

Yuify is Wacom’s authorship platform for digital artists. Wacom Yuify embeds a Yuify invisible micromark into your art, helping you prove authorship of digital artwork wherever and whenever it travels. The service secures exports by embedding a unique digital ID together with a permanent registration record, creating a persistent, verifiable link between the artwork and the creator who registered it. Artists manage their authorship records on the Yuify platform, while interested parties can view the authorship record with Yuifinder to confirm who created the work. In this way, Yuify acts as a digital authorship platform where creators can conveniently document and verify their digital artwork.

How can I access Wacom Yuify?

Wacom Yuify is available in most countries. Access is limited only in a small number of countries subject to legal and trade restrictions. If your country is not on that restricted list, you can start by visiting yuify.com/learn-more to watch the videos and follow the step by step instructions. To use Yuify, you need a Wacom ID. If you do not have one yet, sign up for a Wacom ID, then log in to the Yuify web application at app.yuify.com/login. In Settings → Connected applications, connect at least one supported creative application (Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Rebelle, or ibisPaint).

What does Yuifying mean?

Yuifying means running your artwork through Wacom Yuify’s Micromarker technology to embed a Yuify invisible micromark before you share it. The result is a tamper‑resistant authorship mark built directly into the file. Yuifying (or micro‑marking) is the process of securing your digital artwork with Yuify. It involves using the Yuify tool in your creative application to export your content with invisible pixels embedded in the file. The image quality stays the same, while Yuify creates a permanent link between you as the artist and your artwork. This lets you document authorship, manage your digital rights, and clarify how your work may be used.

What does Yuifinder mean?

Yuifinder is the verification tool in the Wacom Yuify platform that lets anyone inspect the secured authorship record of a digital artwork. You can drag and drop an image into Yuifinder to check whether it has a Yuify record and, if it does, see who registered it as the creator. In this way, Yuifinder helps clarify authorship of digital art.

Do I need a Wacom device to use the Wacom Yuify service?

No, you do not need to work on a Wacom device. Your artwork can be secured directly in creative applications and managed with the Wacom Yuify web app.

What personal information do I need to provide to prove my identity to open a Yuify account?

To open a Wacom Yuify account, you only need the information associated with your Wacom ID, such as your name and email address.

What if I don't want to use my real name on Yuify?

Wacom Yuify lets you enter an alias to use instead of your real name. When someone scans your work through the Yuifinder, they will see the alias you chose, not your real name. This lets you prove authorship of your work while keeping your identity private. Your Wacom ID itself must still contain your real name.

Do I need a Wacom ID to use Yuify?

Yes, for some applications, like Photoshop, you need a Wacom ID to log in and prove authorship of digital artwork from the start. In others, like Clip Studio Paint or Rebelle, you can begin using Yuify without a Wacom ID, but you'll need one later to manage your authorship records through the Yuify web app.

How secure are my Yuify'd artworks?

When you export a Yuify'd artwork, a Yuify permanent authorship record of that export event is created - your Yuify proof of authorship, backed by supporting data establishing you as the creator. Anchored through Wacom Yuify blockchain authorship, these records are permanent and non-mutable, creating a tamper-resistant authorship mark that stays linked to your work.

What file formats can I export yuify'd?

Currently, Wacom Yuify supports JPEG and PNG exports for embedding the Wacom Yuify invisible micromark. Support for additional formats - including WEBP and TIFF - is in progress

How robust is the Yuify micro-mark against changes on the artwork?

Wacom Yuify embeds invisible Yuify Micromark - a digital ID - directly into your artwork to preserve its authorship record for digital art. The technology is built to be resilient, and Wacom continues developing this tamper-resistant authorship mark to hold up against edits, crops, and other manipulations of the image itself.

Which technologies are used in Yuify?

Wacom Yuify combines four core technologies. Yuify Micromarking embeds a decentralized identifier directly into the visual data - the same invisible authorship technology behind the Yuify invisible micromark. Yuify blockchain authorship (built on SSI/blockchain) creates permanent, non-mutable records of creation and links each author to their content. Content Credentials, (based on the C2PA data standard), support authenticity, while Wacom signature verification adds a further layer of transaction authentication.

Why does Yuify use Blockchain?

So that Yuify permanent authorship records for creators and creations are stored permanently and cannot be tampered with - anchoring a tamper-resistant authorship mark that can never be manipulated

But are blockchains not energy intensive?

Not the one Yuify uses. The Wacom Yuify Creative Rights Initiative runs on the Polygon blockchain, which lets Yuify and its partners record transactions as trusted authorities without the high-power verification mechanisms typical of older blockchains. That keeps your Yuify permanent authorship record intact without the energy cost usually associated with blockchain technology.

Since Yuify use blockchain, does that have anything to do with NFTs?

No. Wacom Yuify's blockchain usage only ensures that your Yuify permanent authorship record stays intact and tamper resistant. It isn't connected to NFTs in any way and doesn't create any tradeable digital assets. The key difference is that an NFT is a separate token pointing to a file, so the same image can be minted as an NFT more than once. Yuify instead embeds the proof of authorship directly inside the file itself, and does not allow the same image to be registered twice.

Does Yuify store my files?

Yuify does not store the original artwork you upload before it is marked. It does store the exported image that carries your Yuify Micromark, as part of your permanent authorship record, together with a small thumbnail used as a visual identifier.

What if I am working on a confidential project?

You can set your project to "private" in the project options, which hides the image and any confidential registered information from anyone who has the link - so nothing from your authorship record for digital art is publicly accessible except your name or alias.

What if there are more than one artist working on a Yuify project?

Each artwork can have only one registered creator, who becomes the project admin with full project rights. Wacom Yuify also lets you add contributors to a project. Contributors can add content and update their own role, but they are not registered as co-authors of the artwork itself. Collaborative projects are available to non-restricted users only.

Can I stop my artwork from being used to train AI?

Wacom Yuify lets you add a NoAI signal to the public facing page of your artwork, letting web crawlers and AI companies know you do not want that artwork used for AI training. This is applied automatically to all your current and future artworks by default, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings → NoAI Tags. The signal is added to your artwork's public page, not hidden inside the exported file itself, and it is a voluntary, industry recognized signal that major AI companies (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) currently choose to respect on a voluntary basis. It is not a legal guarantee and does not block use by every crawler. That said, Yuify and other artist protection tools solve different problems. Yuify's core focus is authorship, provenance, and attribution, not disrupting AI training directly.

Can I Yuify my artwork again after I make changes to it?

Yes. If you edit an artwork that already has an invisible Yuify Micromark and export it again, Yuify can mark it again, so the new version gets its own authorship record, still linked back to you as the creator. This capability is already supported through the newest version of our Partners API (v3). It will become available to you once the creative application you use completes its update to this API version.

Does Yuify app support dark mode?

Yes. The Wacom Yuify web app supports dark mode. You can switch between light and dark theme in the app header.
